Child & Adolescent Health Care Week

Theme: Transitions from childhood to adulthood, physically and mentally from pre-pandemic life into a life shaped by a pandemic from dependence to independence.

Objective of Program: To bring the awareness regarding Child & Adolescent Health

Date & Time of Program: 14th March 2022 to 19th March 2022 at 11.00 pm to 12:00 pm.

Venue: Pediatric Ward

Organized By: Child Health Nursing Department & M.sc Nursing Students in collaboration with Pediatric Department, Dr. Vasantrao Pawar Medical College Hospital & Research Center.

Brief about the Program (Activity/Event):

Child & Adolescent Health Care Week was celebrated from 14th March 2022 to 19th March 2022 by Child Health Nursing department under the guidance of Ms. Sara Tomy, Lecturer (Child Health Nursing). The programme started with garlanding and enlightening of lamp by Mrs Kumari Nutan, Principal,M.V.P.S INE, Dr. Ravindra Sonwane (HOD of Pediatric Department), Dr. Deepa Joshi, Dr. Kopekar, Residents, Sister In-charge & other teaching Faculty at 11.00am. Principal Mrs. Kumari Nutan  gave speech on Child & Adolescent Health. Dr. Deepa Joshi (Department of Pediatrics) gave said a few words on Child Growth and Development and Dr. Ravindra Sonwane, Department of Pediatrics (HOD) gave emphasized on significance of the Child and adolescent Health care week.

Ms. Sara Tomy Lecturer (Child Health Nursing Department) introduced the Program Schedule and aim of this program. The programme was for 1 week which covered the following activities

Day 1- Growth and Development,

Activities:

  • Health Education
  • Distribution of Rajgira Ladoo and Caps for children

Day 2-Deworming

Activities:

  • Theme Opening
  • Hand washing song by F.Y GNM
  • Game-MOVE LIKE WORM
  • Distribution of Albendazole Tablets 400 mg

Day 3- Hydration

Activities:

  • Demonstration: Preparation of ORS packets & home made preparation
  • Distribution of learning material on Preparation of ORS
  • Distribution of ORS tetrapack

Day 4- Prevention of Malnutrition

Activities:

  • Health promotion activity
  • Distribution of pamphlet on Menu Planning for Malnutrition
  • Distribution of Orange

Day 5- Prevention of childhood injuries

Activities:

  • Health promotion activity
  • Distribution of self-Instructional Module
  • Demonstration of first aid management
  • Distribution of first aid-band aid

Dr. Tushar Godbole, Department of pediatrics took lecture on Adolescent Health and problem associated in adolescent period. Programme ended with vote of thanks by Ms. Sara Tomy.
