National TB Elimination Programme: Regional ToT on Airborne Infection Control – Goa

The Regional Training of Trainers (ToT) on Airborne Infection Control Measures in Institutions with Drug Resistant TB Centers was conducted in Goa from 23rd to 24th August 2024 as part of the National TB Elimination Programme (NTEP).

Organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, WHO India, and FIND, the two-day training aimed to equip healthcare professionals with advanced knowledge and practical skills in implementing effective airborne infection control strategies to combat drug-resistant tuberculosis (DR-TB).

Mr.Vinayak Gunjal, Assistant Professor, MVP’S INE attended the event in collaboration with Dr. Vasantrao Pawar Medical College,Hospital & Research Center, Nashik alongside Dr. Ravindra Shinde from the TB Chest Department and Dr. Ravindra Chaudhari, District Tuberculosis Officer (DTO), Nashik.

The programme saw enthusiastic participation from trainers, public health experts, and frontline healthcare workers. Sessions included interactive lectures, case discussions, and practical demonstrations emphasizing the importance of infection prevention and control (IPC) in reducing TB transmission in healthcare settings.

This initiative reflects India’s ongoing commitment toward TB elimination by 2025, aligning with global health goals and emphasizing capacity building at all levels.
